I know the owners of Cody very well. They are great people and have made a very difficult decision to support this animal. They had the option of returning the dog (to most likely face euthanasia), but, as any animal lover understands, that is never really an option. But the alternative is not only expensive, it is bank-breaking. Please give this dog a chance and help them in any way, be it monetary donations or kind words of support in the comments. It would mean so much to them and literally everything to Cody. Every animal deserves a chance to survive and the owners are doing everything they can to give that to Cody. But they need all the help that can be offered! Please help Cody!

Bobby,
I am sorry for removing your post. I do agree with you about contacting the SPCA and that we might have civil suit on our hands, but we are working that out with the people we received Cody from. They have offered to help us with a portion of our bill and they have taken the proper steps to ensure that no other dogs in their care get the virus. They have bleached and cleaned everything among other precautions. I do not want to have to turn their lives into hell just because ours are. We also understand that they cannot afford the bills anymore than we can and they have offered us as much as they can afford without going under.
Thanks for your concern, we will continue to negotiate with the place we go our pup from.

Thank you Steph with you reply and I fully understand your situation. However, you should be pursuing the full cost of your pups medical expenses. The owner that sold you the pet has the legal obligation to pay for your full medical bills. Even if you are under contract or signed any documents. There is a statue in place on proper care of shelter/store animals and it would void your contract with the shelter/store.
Also, this place may say they are cleaning out their kennels but you are not truly sure. You must get the humane society involved especially if you are an animal lover to make sure this doesn't happen again. They are making dogs lives hell so why care about them. It sounds as though they have had this happen before and know how to get around the system.

Bobby,
We contacted the Delaware Humane Society this morning to see what they advise. Hopefully they will get back to us soon.
Thanks for the concern and advice. It is greatly appreciated.
